Aarne wraps his arms around Stardust's boyfriend and laughs at the posing, nuzzling his face against Minoru's laughing like they're crazy because they surely are.
"Do you think we could maintain a spin without flipping?" Aarne asks as they start picking up speed. It was going to happen faster and faster because of the added weight.
He leaned into the corner so they wouldn't go crashing into the wall. But still tried to push off a little with his foot. Hopefully that would get them turning too.
This is probably a stupid idea given the extra weight but with one arm, and longer reach, he gives an added push to get them spinning. If they spin, they do, and if not he will still be giggling.
"Do you go to amusement parks?" He's been to a few since Rik was a rollercoaster addict. They hit every park they could, every coaster they could find.
That first corner didn't quite get them spinning, but he'd try it again on the next one, with a little more push and a little less lean.
"When I get the chance, yeah!" he laughed. "There weren't any good amusement parks in Seattle. But there was one not too far from where Isamu did undergrad!"
Clearly, Minoru made up for some lost time at Six Flags America and didn't get himself kicked out for any outlandish stunts. (not permanently, anyway...)
Aarne will do what he can to help get the chair spinning, if they can.
"You should have told us." Aarne feels sad that he didn't know. "Rik and I go all the time. He has rode most of the rollercoasters in the world. Next is the Steel Dragon 2000 in Japan."
Aarne had rode most of the roller coasters too because Rik always wanted someone to come along.
"Next time!!" he insisted, but couldn't say much more. The words were drowned out by an energetic cheer, as their next attempt at getting the chair-board spinning was a resounding success!
Not that they could really steer while spinning. As if they actually needed to steer in the first place. Get that camera ready Vars - there's a wall dead ahead!
Next time for sure, now that they knew. Aarne is enjoying the spinning until he realizes the wall is coming up fast. His instinct is to put one of his feet out, but Minoru is in his lap, sitting on them.
"FUUUUCK!" He's hoping the spin lets him get his arms out to the wall or this is going to be a spectacular wreck right into the wall.
Minoru has his hands free to brace and his legs free to push off, but whether that'll do any good will depend entirely on what direction they just happen to be when they collide. And spinning like an out-of-control amusement park teacup, that was anybody's guess.
They were lucky that they hit toward the side, making for a surprisingly effective push off!
From one wall.
Right into the path of the other wall. Because that's how physics works. (Minoru could hear Isamu lecturing him about it now...)
They have gone directly maniac teacup to pinball. The benefit to doing something like this is his arms long and very strong from drumming. He manages to get an arm out to push when they almost collide into the other wall but it now has them going down the ramp backwards with no sign of spinning to get them to a more advantageous position.
Vars can't keep up unless they wreck but he is looking down from above with the camera laughing at Aarne screaming profanities as they are now in a prime position to wipe-out spectacularly.
That gave Minoru enough time to get his bearings and quickly gauge his surroundings - most notably, the upper levels of the walkway that were starting to cross overhead...
"Next stop, everybody off!"
Without any more warning than that, he sprung up as best he could and seized one of the support bars on the underside of the ramp. It was a jerky motion that definitely didn't feel great on the shoulders, but he'd been working on strange catches for some of the American Ninja Warrior obstacles. Plus, with Aarne's hands no longer wrapped around his waist, he didn't have that much holding him down.
From above, his sudden disappearance would be just as much, if not more, of a surprise!
Aarne cried out in surprise from Minoru suddenly jumping away. However, it's not too long after that Aarne notices the wall rushing at him. Definitely lacking the grace of abandonment that Minoru possessed, he puts his feet down on the ground. The sudden jerk of the stop topples the board and Aarne with it. It's not a pretty landing but he's caught himself and it is certainly better than wrecking into the wall.
The giggling where he's just sitting on the floor evidence that there hasn't been any injury.
Minoru dropped down, rolling his shoulders and shaking out his wrists. He's laughing too, because that was probably the coolest dismount he'd ever done off a skateboard. (And that thing was barely still a skateboard.)
"Oh man... That was epic!" he sauntered over to Aarne, holding out a hand for the drummer.
"It was." Aarne looks up shaking his hair out of his face.
Then he is taking Minoru's hand but instead of getting up the drummer does what he would to Rik. Firm grip on Minoru's hand he pulls sharply, intent on pulling him down and finding out if Minoru is ticklish like the Dane.
Minoru was not expecting that, and fell right on top of Aarne and his waiting hands. (At least Aarne couldn’t tickle telepathically. Ziggy could, and sometimes did. At least, whenever Minoru got the bright idea to tickle him first.)
Well! Now he is being tickled. In The Hammers tickling was a weapon used mostly against Rik who was incredibly ticklish. Aarne is but only on the neck, behind the ears and, well, high on the legs where Minoru isn't likely to go for.
No, he's not telepathic and the world is probably lucky he isn't. He doesn't tickle for too long, just enough to get a squeal and maybe some red in the cheeks from laughing.
As a veritable acrobat, Minoru certainly could squirm. But he was at the mercy of Aarne until they both started laughing too hard to tickle or try to escape.
“Okay... okay...” he gasped. “You win!”
He rolled back, and pushed himself up.
“And you really won too. You went farther than I did!”
Which was technically true. Minoru bailed out before the resulting crash. No photo finish needed this time. Aarne was the clear winner.
"I don't care about winning." Aarne tries to stop laughing but it isn't working too well. His cheeks red as he helps Minoru to sit up on the floor.
"I think we need better construction next time and pool innertubes so we can bounce." This is probably an even worse idea but it was sure to be even more fun.
Oh, but the best ideas in life are the worst ideas!
“You know I’m always game for a teat run.” He laughed. “I am so glad this was one of the shows I could make it out to. This was awesome!”
He couldn’t tour with them for any real stretch of time at this point, just a night every few weeks or so. But clearly, he made the most of limited vacation time.
"You can always come hang with Joe and I. We're always up to something." He knew Minoru also spent time with Ziggy and the others but it bore saying. Especially since it seemed like he was becoming good friends with Joe.
Aarne gave him a hug before encouraging him to stand up. "I love that the band brings partners and friends around. Tom told me you're in medicine. Have you talked to Weird's girl yet? She's a doctor."
Of course, whenever he was at a show, he’d be spending at least some of the time with his koibito. But he was quickly making friends with the other bands as well.
“Definitely!” He grinned, returning the hug. “I’d love to hit up a cool amusement park with you guys. Or whatever!”
There were limits to that whatever, of course, but pretty much everyone in the crew knew where Minoru’s limits were by this point.
“No, I haven’t really talked much with her.” He smiled, stretching as he stood up. “What’s her specialty?”
"I'll be sure Rik or I call you the next time we go to one." It would be soon, as soon as Rik found one that aligned with a tour date with a spare day after.
Once Minoru is out of his lap or where ever the tickling had left him sprawling, Aarne got up too.
"I'm not sure but she does disease research that's really controversial because she's a woman." He hadn't asked her but she was a miracle when it came to taping up his wrists and fingers when they hurt from playing too much. "She's a nurse too which is why she is with us, mostly to take care of Ziggy, but she's bandaged a lot of us up."
Minoru was still grinning ear to ear. “Oh, Isamu would have a field day chatting her up about literally everything.”
He might have been in the medical field, but his brother was the one in the research side of it. And it didn’t seem controversial at all, really, what gender she was.
He couldn’t help but notice the ‘taking care of Ziggy’ party, though. It wasn’t like Ziggy could just go to a regular hospital in this world, so having a nurse on tour was a smart idea. But he still asked Aarne how often that kind of thing happened.
"I still think she would like you too. She's so sweet it is painful." He's joking about the painful bit but she was incredibly sweet and feminine compared to the wild of everyone else.
"I don't know the daily ins and outs of what she's doing but she took care of Rik when Viktor caused him to overdose and then Viktor when Rik beat his ass for it... and she binds my wrists and fingers when they hurt. Oh.. and probably Viktor when he burns himself and Vars' old injuries when they flare. I think she takes care of whatever she sees. I think she's even been helping some of the others adjust mentally to things." He was just rattling things off that he's seen her do. "Mostly, I think Weird wanted her along because he likes her."
Simply from having been present during an overdose, he immediately appreciated her presence on the tour. As someone who spent the better part of his days helping people (or at least making it easier for all the doctors and nurses to help them), they probably had enough stories to stay up all night swapping.
“Hey, Ziggy only put me to work setting up lights and running cables because I’m terrible at sitting around and waiting.” He laughed.
Liking him was the primary reason Ziggy invited him out. No shame in that.
Aarne nodded. He understood, like Gloria,the primary goal was to not miss a lover while on tour and secondary was to give them something to do. Aarne would be the last to shame that since he had occassional meltdowns realizing the person he was falling in love with lived in a different country.
He shakes the thoughts off and smiles. "Rik and I should teach you how to set gear for the stage. I'll never complain about having help setting up my kit."
