Aarne hadn't celebrated holidays properly in over a year which left him feeling disconnected. Giant bonfires in the streets and rampant reindeer were frowned upon in most civilized cities, unless of course the punks were involved, then that was arson not celebrations.. ok, well for the punks it was a celebration but not for a Saami.
In the Nexus though, oh here he could do whatever he wanted, or that was what he had learned in his few visits. He had been planning and cooking and collecting. The gods probably don't even know where he stirred up reindeer from in the Nexus but he has and Mouka was happy to have a job keeping them corralled. His usual rock gear is augmented with his family necklace and oddly doesn't look too out of place with rest of his wildness.
He didn't have a lot but parties always started this way. The host had some things and then people came and brought more booze and food, ordering all kinds of things. Aarne did bring Mead, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and a a bunch of lemon tippaleipä batter. He had cooked some but this was something he could show visitors how to make on their own. The honey mead based sugar in a large bowl. Strips of dried reindeer meat and juustoleipä, a Finnish reindeer milk cheese, are out on the table too. There are fruits; strawberries, apples, and nuts which were common as well as a cream from reindeer milk traditional to the culture and nearly like unfermented yogurt.
That all done he looked to the huge pile of logs that he had gotten from various people around the Nexus. The Sami added leaves to it to create smoke at first to attract others. Before lighting it he put up a banner of hide dedicated to the Akka, the female fertility spirits, decorated with the same imagery as his traditional drum. It was sentimental, the first drum he ever learned to play.
Drum in hand he poured kerosene on the log pile and lit it. The reindeer spooked at the sudden fire but soon calmed, especially when the tall Fin went among them.

on 2021-05-01 05:25 pm (UTC)"I did," he offers excitedly. He gives the other envoy's hand a squeeze before wrapping both of his hands around the one he has hold of. "Someone played the drums for me, too. A-and I can feel so-- much here that I can't back home. The Goddess isn't close or really here, but some people-- here follow Her ways, or ways like Hers. And all these people!" Mordred inhales a short breath to keep from getting too overzealous. "They don't all hear my call, but they still-- celebrate, and I know they know I'm here and telling them to spread love-- somehow. I just... I know it."
Very few beings will understand why this is such an incredible thing for the former druid, and Mordred is happy to babble on and on about it with his husband. Galeas has been very patient with him as he's explored his new powers, the changes to his body, and feelings (Goddess, there have been many wonderful feelings as a result of this change), and Mordred's grateful for his presence in moments like this.
Leaning forward again, he presses their lips together for another kiss. The tiny bee buzzing about his head excitedly weaves through Galeas' curls for a moment to make its presence known, then settles on the ivy in Mordred's hair as the pair part. "Have you been enjoying yourself?" Mordred asks in a warm tone. "Did you want to see-- anything or anyone in particular tonight?"

on 2021-05-01 05:56 pm (UTC)"Of course. There's so much to do and see here, and I can... feel how elated everyone is." He touches Mordred's hair (and hair-ivy) fondly, sparing his little bee friend a warm look. "This isn't like an ordinary party. There's something special about it, and you're helping contribute to it. The Goddess will be pleased." And the envoy couldn't feel prouder. Mordred's powers are very different to his own, but Galeas understands the great pleasure of doing one's god-appointed duty and the settled sense of purpose that it brings. "If you're all done here, there's a lot of delicious food I tried that you'd like. Some of it's very sweet." He squeezes Mordred's hand excitedly.

He takes an excited breath, then finally remembers to bend and stretch his knees (the advice of 'don't lock your knees' at their wedding ceremony may have been the best thing ever for him to hear). Once he's feeling a little more settled again, he tucks himself against Galeas' side and nods to let his husband know he's ready.
"Do you think we could do something like this next-- year back home?" he muses as they make their way to all the offered foods. "Galiene would certainly enjoy it and I know the Goddess would love-- a place for me to spread Her influence, but I don't know where we could host it. Maybe one of the local parks? Or out-- in the woods just beyond the city limits?" His first Beltane as an envoy isn't over yet, but Mordred's already excited for the next. With all he's learning and enjoying tonight, he's sure he can really get the Goddess' message out if he had something like this to be a part of in their universe.

on 2021-06-04 04:14 am (UTC)"No, the Goddess doesn't have any angels." Not like God does, anyway. Mordred 'hmm's softly in thought as he devours another strawberry, then tilts his head curiously to one side as his focus shifts back to his husband. "There are some other nature spirits in the area, though. Most don't come into the city, but I could ask-- for their help, see if they can help." A beat as he pops another piece of tippaleipä into his mouth alongside what must be his dozenth strawberry. "Someone at the Agency might know who I could talk to. A lot of people are good at planning big events, or getting people to gather places. One of them could maybe help me spread the word?"
