Aarne didn't see a problem talking about this subject in front of a child, though even drunk he wouldn't get graphic, because his culture, both as a child and now as a rockstar, was open about sexuality. He's more attentive to what he is being told about the situation than the subject matter though at the moment and unaware of the telepathy.
"You astral project?" It was the first human concept that came to mind and aligned with the idea of the body being one place and the mind with a projected appearance being somewhere else.
In a way, Aarne saw some objects traditionally thought of as inanimate as alive due to his animistic beliefs but those were natural objects. Manmade items, like a car, didn't fall into that distinction. Beliefs can change though and Howlback was a car with a spirit. Momentarily, it gives him pause while he tries to sort out the thoughts that challenge some of his misconceptions about the world.
"I can check in the future and make sure Joe does too. We didn't know that there were cars that aren't cars." He's honest with the mistake and ready to move on to some other topic so his attention turns back to Viridian.
"Dancing is part of our traditions for this time of the year. You should dance if you want."
